Rick’s Café celebrated its third anniversary March 1, and the launch of the “Fourth Season” of good fun, food, drinks and entertainment. We decided to forego the giant, quasi-official cocktail reception of years past, and instead only clients were invited for cocktails and a sit down dinner. Those able to stay for dinner were asked to reserve a table. We wanted it to be like a private dinner party, and it really was a success. A last minute idea to have a Tombola/prize drawing was well received, with generous donations from Nokia, Royal Air Maroc, Celliers de Meknes, and ourselves.
Almost since Rick’s opened we have talked about Issam recording a CD of piano music, and Issam set at work on the recording to time the release for our anniversary: “Issam at the Piano – Some of the old songs” contains sixteen of our favorite tracks representing a typical set he plays nightly at Rick’s – from “La Vie en Rose,” to “Aquellos Ojos Verdes,” to “Summertime,” and the finale, “As Time Goes By.” I greeted our guests with the music playing in the background, and announced they’d each be receiving a CD as our gift.
As the evening came to a close I introduced Chef El Housine Atmani and together we blew out the candles and began serving a giant birthday cake. Fortunately we’d also called a photographer who covered all the festivities including a group photoat the very end. As you can see a good time was had by all.
